Found this place by accident. Got back to the motel Days Inn (across the street) around 930PM. Not much else was open to eat...so we went in. Responsibly farmed/harvested food is hard enough to find. Make it unpretentious and yummy...even more difficult to find. Beer was ice-cold. Non abusive/indifferent staff. What's not to love?

My first name is Travel. In fact maybe Mr. Travel is best. My second name is Sir Beer, but shhhhh on that. So I am on the road day and night. That is hard but time to time rewarding. Our visit to your restaurant was as perfect as can be hoped for, getting Buffalo (Bison) anything anywhere is a treat and a double hands up 5 stars. Add to this staff and owners who take time to treat a visitor like family and I abandon all desires but to remain and enjoy till Amtrak takes me south again. At this rate it will be a hard choice to go or stay. All the food was great and from scratch. Everyone took time to want to help, I really appreciate that.

On the road is a puzzle of difficulty. Spending the time to relax and enjoy is something not too often found and is the missing piece in that puzzle. This was the exact piece of the puzzle we needed to complete our visit.

Please stop here to complete or add to your ongoing jigsaw puzzle.

Oh yeah, playing now Aretha Franklin Chain of Fools in the audio, a constant reminder that some things are real and can stop you dead in your tracks. You can enjoy a moment of uncanned and non plastic, a perfect flash of reality here. Do it before you return to drive throughs and the. squawking box of the day to day.

Recent review On yelp.

4.0 star rating

Been there twice now. Pretty standard fair, really nice staff. Solid fries, but when I ordered the buffalo burger it seemed like the patty was dry or cooked from frozen, which wouldn't have been a huge problem if It didn't cost $16+.

Thanks John for waiting until your second visit to write a review. Would like to thank you too for letting us know that the buffalo burger you ate was perceived to be dry. I say perceived because we didn't discuss it in the restaurant, I read it in the review you wrote. Although, it's such a lean product that Yes it can be over cooked in just a few moments and I / we appreciate the feedback. Especially since we are extra passionate about our Buffalo and want all to enjoy.

Will also let you know that The product is Fresh from Famous foods where we shop daily. Not frozen, not.

Also for all those Fresh, Free Run, Organic Buffalo Burger eaters a Fresh hand pressed 6oz patty in your burger that comes with real cheddddar and a generous side at 15.50 plus tax (which we do not control) is great value. Actually should be up for review for a little increase to reflect the cost and time put into the product.

You are correct a dry buffalo burger isn't fun and one of our really nice staff would like to hear about it when it is in front of you & we can fix it no fuss.

Please say hi if you choose to join us again.

all the best - Colin

“Tip of the hat to the Tipper Restaurant”
4 of 5 starsReviewed 8 June 2012

See yourself as an artsy, or musical person and want to eat at the same time?
Then The Tipper is the place for you. Located in an less than iconic venue on Kingsway, The Tipper has that artistic, rustic vibe, with art on the wall, and great music at night. There is a second floor at the back of the restaurant if you are coming in with a large party during the day. And the food-a creative take on an all day breakfast, with eggs benedict and other long time favourites reinterpreted with a modern, creative vibe.

The coffee is great, you can bring your kids, and you can eat with great service, great prices, and a bit of local art and music.

Recent Tipper Review posted on CHOW

Fantastic spot!

5 stars

This slightly out-of-the-way restaurant on a busy boulevard offers a simple but delicious menu of fresh food. The Tipper salad is outstanding, the pasta dishes are made with fresh ingredients and outstanding, the roast beef sandwich melts in your mouth and the seafood chowder is highly recommended. I was trapped in the hotel across the street during the recent Olympics (was covering as a journalist) and ate at The Tipper for 20 straight (very late) nights. I appreciated the tasty beers and high-quality menu. Definitely drop by... and say hi to Collin and Cameron.-COLLAPSE (by Amy Shipley, updated March 4, 2010)
